In the latest gossip news, we can confidently say that Cristiano Ronaldo is yet to officially invite Lionel Messi over to his house for dinner.
It’s inevitable for die-hard Messi fans (Messianites) and die-hard Cristiano Ronaldo fans (Cristianites) to be at war every single day — and especially on matchdays. The two World Football icons, however, insist they are not enemies. Speaking to Sport, Barcelona FC’s number 10 playmaker underlined the matter.
“Iâve always said that I donât have any issue with him [Ronaldo]. We might not be friends because weâve never shared a dressing room together but I always see him at award shows and thereâs no problem,” the Argentine player, who conceded a 4-1 Ballon d’Or lead over the years to CR7, noted.
“We actually spoke with each other for quite a long time at the most recent show,” Messi continued as he referred to their encounter at the 2019 UEFA Awards where the two rivals missed out on the UEFA Men’s Player of the Year prize to Liverpool’s Champions League-winning defender, Virgil van Dijk.
During the ceremony, Cristiano stole the show and brightened the atmosphere in the room by revealing that he’d consider having dinner with his eternal foe.
When Cristiano said he hopes to have dinner with Messi in the future. Watch:
“I donât know if there will be a dinner [date] because I donât know if our paths will cross for obvious reasons,” the Spanish La Liga-based superstar noted.
“Each one of us has our own life and our own commitments. But obviously I would accept the invitation.”
Club football resumes for both players this weekend but only one of them was on duty during the international break and that was Ronaldo. The Portuguese national football team captain led the reigning Nations League champions to two successful round of matches in the UEFA European qualifiers, scoring a total of five times in the process and hitting 93 goals in 160 matches against 40 different countries.
