Will Ronaldo play vs MLS All-Star? Time and date

Will Cristiano Ronaldo play in MLS All Stars vs Real Madrid

The MLS All-Star team has been named as the final opponent of Real Madrid in their 2017/2018 preseason friendlies in the United States of America.

With the football season nearing its climax and the summer quickly approaching, the prospect of pro-footballers embarking on luxurious holiday trips with their respective families vividly comes to mind. Africa, Asia, the Caribbeans and other notable leisure settings will be a haven for persons in search of more than enough sunshine. Nonetheless, one man who is likely to miss out on most of the tanning sessions is Real Madrid’s, Cristiano Ronaldo.

Whiles a majority of his club teammates would be communing with the ardor of nature, the 32-year-old will also be battling for a second international trophy in the colds of Russia. The FIFA Confederations Cup, a prelude to the 2018 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to run from 17th June to 2 July. Cristiano Ronaldo, who led Portugal to its first major international trophy in Euro 2016, hopes a similar feat could be replicated in Russia this summer.

However, the Seleccao skipper is expected to be away on holidays right after the campaign. So, will he be available to feature against the MLS All-Star team come August 2? The fixture is the last on Real Madrid’s tour calendar as the Whites have prior encounters with Manchester United, Manchester City and Barcelona on the 23, 26 and 30th of July respectively.

There are 31 days between the finals of the Confederations Cup and Real Madrid’s game with the All-Star team. Yet, it’s still unclear whether the club’s poster boy will be given an extended vacation period or an early call up will be required of him.

MLS has previously made top players’ participation part of the game’s contract prerequisites, as in 2014 where Bayern had to summon Philip Lahm and Manuel Neuer to feature in the match-up after winning the World Cup with Germany 24 days earlier. A similar compromise might possibly be resorted to in order to get Ronaldo in town if the need be.
