England striker Harry Kane loves Cristiano Ronaldo and is on a mission to replicate the current Ballon d’Or holder’s achievements.
The Spurs forward is currently with the England national team preparing for the FIFA World Cup qualifier against Scotland on Saturday. Speaking to reporters, Kane admitted that he has huge admiration for the Portuguese’s glittering career and drive to remain at the top.
Indeed, after Cristiano Ronaldo’s unbelievable comeback in the UEFA Champions League goalscoring chart en route to the tournament’s title, the race to the 2017 Ballon d’Or looks all but decided. If it is almost certain that CR7 will retain his France Football crown, other players still wouldn’t give up on the possibility of acquiring it soon. Such is the case for Tottenham Hotspur’s young forward.
“Who wouldn’t want to win the big gold trophy? I aspire to be like Ronaldo,” Kane unashamedly revealed.
He went on with his observation of the former Manchester United number 7 icon, stating:
“Ballon d’Or, Champions League, Euros, he’s always up there. You have to win the big tournaments for your club and country and that’s why he wins it. Messi’s is a similar situation.
“Ronaldo’s a great role model, a fantastic player and that’s something I want to achieve one day,” he concluded.
Kane certainly has the “Ronaldo quality” in him. He claimed the 2016/17 English Premier League top scorer award with 29 goals in 30 games. Remarkably, he’s just 23! A great future awaits the Englishman who was only 14-years-old when Cristiano Ronaldo scooped the 2007/08 Premier League Golden Boot with 31 goals in 34 appearances.
But is Harry the first to make an admirable statement about Cristiano this week? Certainly not! A couple of days ago, Barcelona’s Lionel Messi hailed the Real Madrid star as a phenomenal player in an interview with Tencent. Both La Pulga and The HurriKane are expected to witness Ronaldo’s fifth Ballon d’Or crowning as mere spectators, later this year.
