Ronaldo models Real Madrid’s new kit

Real Madrid all-time goalscorer and club poster boy, Cristiano Ronaldo, led the pack to unveil the European champions’ new kit for the 2017/2018 season.

Hit or miss? You be the judge! The Spanish capital club, on Tuesday, made the home and away kits available to be exclusively purchased by fans from official Real Madrid and Adidas stores. The kit will be made obtainable to retailers worldwide from Wednesday, June 21.

An excerpt from the club’s official website describing the inspiration behind the kit reads as follow:

“Real Madrid and Adidas have presented the kit for the 2017-18 season. On the home shirt, the white color is combined with a light-blue but will be even whiter due to the three Adidas stripes only running along the shoulders. The color of these stripes and the sponsor logo is a blue inspired by the sky in the city of Madrid. As well as this, at the bottom of the shirt, there is a small embossed stamp with the years 1902-2017, as a nod to the club’s 115-year history.” 

Cristiano Ronaldo, despite being in a few photographs on the club’s website, was absent in the official promo video of the new kit. This is, simply, as a result of the iconic number 7 being a Nike athlete. As such, promoting the product of the sportswear maker’s direct competitor, Adidas, who happens to be the official sponsor of Real Madrid, will be a violation of the contract he has with Nike.
