Barcelona star Lionel Messi has congratulated Cristiano Ronaldo on winning both the UCL Forward of the Season and the UEFA Best Player awards.
This is becoming very casual, isn’t it?! The days when it was the Portuguese forward doing his arch-nemesis the favor have been nonexistent for a while now. The 30-year-old Barca number10 finished as a runner-up for the second successive year at the UEFA Awards which took place during the 2017/2018 UEFA Champions League Group-stage draw held in Monaco
The Argentine forward was shortlisted in both the Forward of the Season and the overall UEFA Best Player categories but eventually lost out on the pair to the meriting Cristiano Ronaldo. See how the Barca man was crushed by CR7 in the votes for the Forward of the Season accolade below:

Speaking after the event, Lionel Messi lauded the Real Madrid man for his incredible achievement.
“Cristiano Ronaldo deserved the UEFA Best Player Award. I have to congratulate him because he deserved it.”
All withstanding, the golden question running through the minds of many football fans after Lionel Messi’s statement is whether he has conceded the penultimate Ballon d’Or and The Best FIFA Men’s Player awards.
These skepticisms are justified as history shows that the winners of the UEFA Best Player awards rarely miss out on winning the Ballon d’Or or any major award, for that matter.
