The Pop singer has reportedly rejected the superstar’s advice for her son to join Sporting Club de Futbol.
Ronaldo came through the youth system at Sporting after joining at just 12 years of age. He went on trial at the club and with his brilliant technical abilities, he was signed for £1,500 in 1997.
The Madeira-born talent went on to become the first player to play for the club’s under-16, under-17 and under-18 teams, the B-team and the first team, all within one season. Cristiano made significant improvement in his career during his time with the Leões before signing for Manchester United in 2003.
According to AS, the UEFA Best Player tried to persuade the songwriter to make her adopted son join Sporting Lisbon instead of fierce city rivals Benfica. The teenager impressed in a trial and a youth tournament to attract interest from the Primeira Liga champions.
