The video game’s developers have included The Selecção in their latest football game release.

The Portuguese national team failed to make the cut in the previous editions of the FIFA video game since 2013. In the recent release, the European champions have been added to a host of other national teams.

Cristiano led an average Portugal squad to an EURO Championship triumph in France in 2016 after beating the host nation with a lone goal, courtesy a 25-yard strike by Eder. The Selecção Das Quinas have gone on to rediscover their reputation in Europe and the world after a third-place finish in the 2017 Confederations Cup held in Russia and also moving up to third in the September FIFA world rankings.

The Real Madrid star was outstanding in the 2016/17 season after winning a Champions League and La Liga double with Los Blancos in what was a record-breaking season. Per the partnership established between EA Sports and Real Madrid, the game developers, having secured a part of Ronaldo’s image rights, announced the Portuguese captain as the new cover star for their soon-to-be-released FIFA 18 game.

Ronaldo is rated the highest player in the popular football virtual game with an overall 94 rating. He’s overtaken his rival and Barcelona star Lionel Messi who follows with 93 overall rating.

EA Sports covered every aspect of the Portuguese National team with their official shirt and logo embeded to enrich the play. Players such as Danilo, Moutinho, Pepe and Quaresma have their ratings increased as a result of their scintillating form for the European champions. Cristiano Ronaldo’s famous ‘SIIUU’ celebration has been rightly programmed to depict the realness of the game.

The FPF released an article on Wednesday to announce their partnership with EA Sports. A connection that adds the Federation as a global reference among the eSports community with the aim of creating competitive spaces for proven gamers in Portugal. The agreement is based on organisation of eSports events at the Cidade do Futebol, promotion and development of national competitions with an international scope and the licensing of the National Team in FIFA 18.

According to the Federacao Portuguesa De Futbol, Gonçalo “RastaArtur” Pinto, the winner of FPF eSports Allianz Challenge (the first official Portuguese Football Federation e-Sports tournament),will travel to Denmark on September 30, where he will be playing against two-time FIFA World champion, Agge Rosenmeier (player from Red Bull).

FIFA 18 is set to be released on Friday September 29, with a lot of gamers relishing the prospect of using the Real Madrid star to finish off their opponents.
