‘Selfish’ Cristiano bags 200th career assist


Cristiano Ronaldo delivered the final pass for Isco to slot home Real Madrid’s opener against Espanyol. 

The man often branded as a “self-centered egomaniac” by ever-present detractors reached a landmark that has certainly made his antagonists hang their heads in shame. The 32-year-old Real Madrid forward delivered a sumptuous through-ball for Isco to toe-poke into the net to give the hosts their first goal of the night against their Catalonia opponents.

His nights’ liveliness caused the record keepers to revisit the archives, and interesting findings were coughed up upon their return. Aside reaching a benchmark and a career total of 200 assists, the feat took his tally in La Liga to 83, an achievement which cannot be matched by any other Real Madrid player in the last 25 years.
