Rio Ferdinand asked Cristiano about the first time he wore a Mercurial boot and he was quoted as saying:

“Yes, I remember when I was 16-years-old, this guy over there (Ricardo Regufe) gave me the boot and i looked at it with amazement and it felt like a diamond. It was an unbelievable moment. Since I started playing with the boot, I’ve never changed it till today.

“When I play with it, it feels good on my feet. The boot gives me everything I need on the pitch. It helps with my pace, my goals and when I shoot, I feel good. And the boot is so beautiful.

“I’m so proud to be part of this family, the new product and the new project. They are always good and to score goals is even much better.

The 32-year-old further explained the inscription on the heel of the Nike Mercurial Superfly Chapter 5 multi-colored knit boot.

“’El Sueño Del Niño’ means the dream of a child and it was my dream to play for Real Madrid. We have history attached to every boot and I’m glad to be part of the history and the boot. I will make this boot historic because I already scored two goals with it and I’m happy.”

Cristiano scored a brace in a 1-3 thrashing of Borussia Dortmund at the Signal iduna Park in the UEFA Champions League to mark a perfect debut of his new Chapter 5 cleats.

It’s interesting to note that, Adidas sponsored Real Madrid have a Nike posterboy CR7 as they pillar.
