Those stitches and that swollen eye don’t look good but Ronaldo is a true fighter.
Last Sunday was bittersweet for Cristiano Ronaldo fans. The goal-fest against Deportivo La Coruna provided euphoria for the most part of the game but horror soon left spectators anxious. Having finally ended his goal drought in 2018 with a strike in the 78th minute, CR7 went in for a second in the 84th minute.
The “header specialist” knocked the ball at the back of the net but received a knock too, in the process. His face was covered in blood as he left the pitch.

In the post-match presser, Zinedine Zidane reassured Cristiano Ronaldo fans with the following statement:
“He has got a wound and I think he’s been given two or three stitches. He’s alright.”
The coach is once again expected to rest his stars as Real Madrid welcome Leganes in the 2nd leg of their Copa del Rey quarter-final match on Wednesday. With a 1-0 advantage, Los Blancos are poised to finish the job at the Santiago Bernabeu where they last banged in seven goals.
Valencia is next on Real Madrid’s league football agenda. Not used to being fourth at this stage of the campaign, the visitors will need to throw in all they’ve got to close the 5-point gap separating them from Los Che (40) who are in third position. If winning the title seems a lost cause, restoring some pride and avoiding Europa League football are vital.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s presence will be crucial on Saturday. His participation in this match is all but confirmed. The Portuguese even trained on Tuesday morning with the rest of the squad.
A true fighter.
