One man made the difference in the 2018 Italian Supercup and that man was Cristiano Ronaldo.

Rising above everyone else to knock home the ball from Pjanic’s perfect cross inside the box, the former Real Madrid attacker inspired Juventus to their first title of the season. Speaking from the King Abdullah Sports City stadium, in Saudi Arabia where the titanic showdown took place on Wednesday evening, CR7 avowed:

“It was a really tough match. It was hot and not easy to play here.”

He added:

“We fashioned lots of chances and played well.

“I’m delighted not just to have scored but also to have won my first trophy with Juventus.”

Job well done by Ronaldo and the rest of the team!

“It’s a good start to 2019 and this is something I really wanted. I’m happy. We have to keep it up now as we have lots more targets to achieve,” he noted.

The father-of-four, who seems to be enjoying more family time in Turin whilst guiding his son’s development in the youth ranks of Juventus FC, made the following declaration:

“I’d like to dedicate this trophy to everyone who loves Juve… and Cristiano.”

Meanwhile, former Arsenal goalkeeper, Wojciech Szczesny, acknowledged the number 7’s positive impact on the team.

“[This Juventus squad] is similar to last year’s but with a match-winner in Cristiano Ronaldo up front.”

The Bianconeri are undefeated domestically with an average of two goals per match in the Italian Serie A and as many as 17 victories from a possible 19. They will wrap up the month of January with a home match against Chievo and two away games to Lazio and Atalanta respectively.

Cristiano Ronaldo will be looking to extend his good form which has seen him have a hand in 24 of Juve’s goals so far, this season. The Portuguese forward is currently the Old Lady’s highest goalscorer (16) and assist-maker (8) following his 26 appearances in 2018/19.

In terms of trophy count, the Supercoppa Italiana was his 29th in his colorful trophy room which houses title collections from Sporting Lisbon, Manchester United, Real Madrid, and the Portuguese national team.
